Despite looking a bit dull to begin with, the sun eventually came out to make the day even more enjoyable for everyone. Tours of the kennel and cattery were extremely popular and, although we were not re-homing on the day, many people have returned since then to visit pets they saw with a view to re-homing them. Raymondo Bongo, our local celeb magician was up to his usual high standard and kept the kids (and a few adults!) amused until the dog agility display took over. Everyone with enthralled by the skill of the dogs taking part on the agility course - well done to everyone (and their dogs) who took part! Lynn 'The Dog Lady' explained how dog training classes work and gave us a practical demonstration of the techniques involved. She was also available all day to advise those owners with dog behaviour problems. One of the highlights of the show was, beyond doubt, the Police Dog Display. While one of the officers commentated, we were treated to a powerful display of what these dogs and their trainers can achieve and the many ways that the dogs are used including helping the police to catch criminals and sniffing out lost people and illegal substances.
