Keeping in touch with past residents

At the Home we hear many horror stories and see first hand the effects of people’s cruelty towards animals. Thankfully, we also meet a lot of very kind and thoughtful owners who help to restore our faith in the human race. Here are some ‘good news’ stories about animals we have managed to help:

Gracie is a white and black cross terrier female who is around one year old. She was brought to us by the police, who found her by a roadside along with another dog, which unfortunately had been struck by a vehicle and killed. Gracie had stayed with her companion and waited. After an examination by our staff, we soon realised that Gracie was pregnant and a short time later she produced six lovely pups, some smooth coated and some wire coated like her. Needless to say, all six pups found good homes and Gracie has settled in really well with the parents of a member of staff.

Jodie is a very pretty little Staffordshire bull terrier. We found her a new home but the owners returned her a few weeks later as she was urinary incontinent. We were obviously disappointed but understood the reasons for her being returned. After several different veterinary checks, it was realised that Jodie’s problem was a psychological one. It took us almost a year to help her to overcome her nervous problem, but we got there in the end and I am delighted to report she has had no wet nights since being adopted by her new family.
