New Sunday Opening Hours Give Fresh Hope to Rescue Centre Residents

Residents of Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home at Seafield Road East now have even more chance of finding their forever homes. From 15 September 2019 Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home will be opening every Sunday. This will be the first time in 136 years that the rescue centre will be open all weekend for rehoming.

This exciting new development means more people will be able to access Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home’s services throughout the weekend to find their perfect companion. Visitors can now access rehoming information, board their pets or purchase cat and dog accessories, toys and treats for their furry friends from the newly refurbished reception shop every Sunday.

To celebrate the special occasion there will be cake and refreshments available and a free gift for the first five customers through the door on Sunday 15 September. There will also be a special prize for the first person or family to put their name down to rehome a dog, and the first person or family to reserve a cat on the day.

Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home recuses, reunites and rehomes lost, stray and abandoned dogs and cats across Edinburgh and the Lothians as well as offering a boarding service to give you peace of mind that your pet is in safe hands while you are on holiday or away on business. Funds generated from this kennel and cattery service go back into helping the rescue centre fund the care of hundreds of stray and unwanted dogs and cats each year.

The Home will now close on Wednesdays for rehoming, so the highly skilled staff have more time for training and to dedicate to the animals in their care. The home will still be open on Wednesday until midday for boarding.

Lindsay Fyffe-Jardine, Deputy to the CEO and Director of Operations, at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home said:

“We appreciate people lead busy lives. Our extended weekend opening hours mean more people will be able to visit Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home at a time that suits them. Our new Sunday opening hours will make rehoming and boarding more accessible and convenient for everyone. This a fantastic opportunity for anyone who might usually be too busy through the week to visit and see the services we have to offer, we look forward to welcoming people across the weekend and hope even more of our cats and dogs will find new loving homes.”

Enquires and Boarding: 9.00am – 4.00pm

Rehoming: 10.00am – 3.30pm
